People have different goals in life. Some are lucky enough in achieving it early, some are not. The reason is that there are instances that prevent or prolongs the process of reaching your objectives. But with the aid of proper planning, it can make things more organized and will create a guide for you to fulfill what you are aiming for.

Planning in architecture is the way we organize space in accordance with the needs and wants of the clients or the users. Maximizing the area and making it functional is our duty as practitioners in this field. However, architecture is not limited to just a single structure. As the world continues to change, different types of developments rose and were needed to be organized. We were exposed to a larger scale of work, environmental planning.

In the Philippines, various laws and codes had been established with regard to planning. An example of this is the Batas Pambansa blg. 220 or BP 220 that focuses on the socialized and economic housing in the country. Others are more on safeguarding the environment such as the Republic Act No. 7586 or the National Integrated Protected Areas System Act of 1992, Republic Act No. 8794 or the Clean Air Act of 1999, Republic Act No. 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management of 2001, and etc. As for locating a project to its appropriate zone or use, there are also zoning ordinances in every city or municipality that should be included in your planning considerations. These are a few examples of planning codes that provide a set of rules and regulations in order to have an organized system for the betterment of the general, environment, and country.

Architecture cares for its users and the environment. And its objectives of providing comfort and safety, and enhancing the quality of life, is more achievable through planning.
