Population in the world that we live in increases for about 1.1% yearly. As it increases, the world also continues to develop. The development of the world is accompanied by an increase of carbon footprint. It is the greenhouse gases or the heat that is trapped and remained in our atmosphere. And this is one of the greatest problems that we faced.
From the energy that we wasted; it produces the carbon footprint. Simple activities like using electricity or driving a car are what make the continuous production of greenhouse gas. It happens because of the burning of fossil fuels. When we are to operate vehicles, heat our homes, and even using electricity. Thus, industrialization is one of the biggest contributors to greenhouse production.
The greenhouse gases that were being emitted in our atmosphere could create a tremendous negative effect on our environment. Global warming, which is capable of making floods, water shortages, and disturbed ecosystem. And as part of this world, as we are the main cause of this phenomenon because we are the ones who made all of this, we should be responsible enough of knowing the impacts of these events in the future and we should be responsible for making those impacts positive. And in order to reduce this carbon footprint and the harmful effect on the environment, code and concept has been developed. The Philippine Green Building Code or the GB Code aims to enhance the building’s performance by providing a set of standards to increase the efficiency and quality of a certain building. Green buildings change the impact of greenhouse gases from negative into a positive one thus making a world sustainable for people to live in.
We should be responsible enough for our environment. We are the ones who live in this world, and so we should think and act for it not to get ruined by also us. We have to realize the importance of dealing with our environment positively because if we didn't, we'll be the ones who will also suffer in the future.
